Kota Kinabalu City Bird Sanctuary

Kota Kinabalu City Bird Sanctuary is a natural site for wildlife and is located just before Menara Tun Mustapha, about 3km from Kota Kinabalu. The Bird Sanctuary has an important natural function. Migratory birds converge here during the winter months to breed and feed before flying back to their original nesting places. Egrets, herons and various other species of water birds can be seen here at dawn or in the early mornings when it is not too hot, or at dusk before the sun sets in the evening. Birds can also be seen wading in the shallow waters of the lagoon feeding on small fishes and frogs, or settling into their nests on mangrove branches by the water's edge to rest.
